Artistic Statement

Lindsey Frances Jones’s creative practice begins with printmaking as a process of discovery. She meditates on and abstracts the shapes of the self, uncovering forms through printmaking that she would not arrive at through drawing alone. She is interested in how shape and transparency can portray movement in ways that feel playful yet truthful.

Guided by Henri Matisse’s description of windows as “a passage between outside and inside,” Jones views each work as a window into herself or others. Shapes discovered in her prints often move into collage or sculpture, revealing new possibilities through each process.

Jones is also drawn to socially engaged projects that invite participation and create space for individual and collective expression. She approaches printmaking as a form of discovery and exchange: a way of making the unseen visible.
